USB DMX Configuration

Got a USB DMX controller and looking for software? DMXDesktop works with most USB DMX interfaces including Enttec, Eurolite and FTDI-based devices. Get started from $15. Mac and Windows.

Supported Devices

DMXDesktop works with most USB DMX interfaces - including Enttec, DMXKing, Eurolite, Yarilo and FX5 devices, plus generic FTDI FT232-based controllers with a DMX output stage (select the Enttec USB Open driver).

See the full Supported Hardware matrix for every supported interface and Art-Net / sACN node, with universes, RDM and DMX input/output at a glance. If your device isn't listed, contact us and we'll do our best to add it.

We do not support UART-only USB DMX interfaces (FT232RQ / FT232RLU without a DMX512 stage).

Tested USB DMX Controllers

Standard:
Open DMX USB Interface Controller

Premium:
DMX USB Pro Interface SIRS

DMXKing (buy direct):
DMXKing USB-DMX interfaces - ultraDMX MAX, ultraDMX2 PRO and more.

The DMXKing ultraDMX MAX (and MAX series) is officially supported as of DMXDesktop v1.0.51.

Please bear in mind, some devices are specific to their manufacturers software only and are effectively 'locked-down' so they cannot be used with other software. In such cases we are unable to support those devices.

Configuration

The default settings are usually correct when we're able to detect the type of USB DMX device you have connected, however you can change any of the settings as required, but remember to click Save to store the settings after changing.

To apply changed settings, you need to click the Restart icon in the top right corner to restart the USB DMX service.

Similar to sACN and ArtNET, if you add fixtures to new universes, then a config for that universe will become available. However, unlike other drivers, the USB configuration is limited to 1 usb device per universe, to run 2 universes you must connect 2 seperate USB DMX interfaces.
