Database Backup
On the Backups tab you can take a complete backup of your entire database configuration(we can store up to the last 10 backups, as you add new ones the oldest will be deleted automatically), which will be securely stored in our Cloud. It is not accessible to anyone but you.
Local backup & restore (free)
New in v1.0.51
You can also export your entire setup to a file on your own computer — completely free, with no upload and no subscription needed. It's ideal for a safety copy before a big change or a show, or for moving your setup to another machine.
On the Backups tab use Export to File to save everything — your stages, shows, fixtures, playlists and settings — as a single file. You can set an optional password to encrypt it; keep it somewhere safe, because a lost password can't be recovered.
To restore, click Import from File and choose your backup (entering the password if you set one). Importing replaces your current setup, so DMXDesktop saves a restore point of your existing data first, then offers to restart to apply the changes. This is separate from the cloud backups above and works without signing in.
Stage Backups
You can also take Backups of Stages, via the Backup Stage link on the Stages tab. This way you can keep a snapshot of your Stage at that moment in time, and restore it later if you want to undo any changes for example, or you can use the backup to restore your Stage to another machine if you login elsewhere.
My Fixture Backups
You can take backups of your personal My Fixtures library and store them also in the cloud. You can always restore any fixture if you delete it, but when you restore the My Fixtures backup it will not overwrite any matching fixtures in your library, if you want to force the restoration to restore the fixture, simply delete it from your My Fixtures library before you run the restoration.
Managing Backups
All your Backups are visible on the Backups page. You can restore a backup by clicking the Restore icon, in the case of a Stage it will be restored as a new Stage, it will NOT overwrite the original stage it was backed up from, but will create a new copy.
You can Delete a backup by clicking the bin icon next to it.
