ArtNET Configuration

DMXDesktop works with any Art-Net node out of the box. Connect your hardware, assign a universe, and you are running in minutes. Mac and Windows.

Art-Net configurations are stored per Stage, so you can configure different Art-Net endpoints for different Stages. You can configure different Art-Net server configurations per active universe - if you add a new fixture mapped to a universe which has never been used, a new config for that universe will become available on the Art-Net page.

ArtNET Configuration

The default settings are usually the correct settings, except for the IP address, which you usually need to set for your Artnet enabled receiver.

You can enable/disable any Artnet configuration via the Enable checkbox button, but remember to click "Save" to store the changes - the change will be applied live!

Sometimes a receiver can lose connection, in this case you can try restarting the Artnet service via the green rotation icon in the top right corner of each Artnet configuration.

Universe Numbering

New in v1.0.52

DMXDesktop numbers universes from 1 for every protocol and converts on the way out, so your Universe 1 leaves as Art-Net Universe 0, Universe 2 as Art-Net Universe 1, and so on. Entering 0 in DMXDesktop is the classic mistake.

New in v1.0.52: universe numbers above 64 can now be used, so you can match the numbering your rig or venue already uses. This is about the numbers you are allowed to enter, not about how many universes your plan includes.

If a node is configured and nothing is arriving, DMX Doctor checks the whole chain, from your fixture setup to what is actually going out.
