Laptop running DMXDesktop with Art-Net, sACN, and USB DMX cables fanning out to multiple nodes

Unified DMX I/O

A single, unified table for Art-Net, sACN, and USB DMX — outputs, inputs, mirroring, and live diagnostics in one place.

Available from v1.0.50
DMXDesktop Unified DMX I/O configuration table

One table, every protocol. Configure Art-Net, sACN, and USB DMX side-by-side with live status, per-row diagnostics, and inline editing.

One Page. Every Protocol.

The new Unified DMX I/O page replaces the separate Art-Net, sACN, and USB tabs with a single table-driven interface. Every output, every input, every target — in one place. Per-row status badges show live driver state. Duplicate-row bugs, stale state, and off-by-one confusion are gone.

Built for the Way You Actually Work

Every feature you need to wire up a real rig — without hunting through three separate settings pages.

Art-Net Output

Unicast or broadcast to any Art-Net node on your network. Per-row IP, port, and Port-Address mapping with automatic universe conversion.

sACN Output with Priority

Send E1.31 sACN with per-universe priority (1–200). Multicast auto-computed from universe number, or specify a custom multicast address.

USB DMX Adapters

Enttec Open DMX, Pro, Pro Mk2, Eurolite DMX Pro, generic FTDI, SoundSwitch Micro, and more — auto-detected when you plug them in.

Inline Editing & Live Status

Click any cell to edit. Changes commit on blur. Each row shows its live status — OK, Warning, Error, or Off — refreshed from the engine in real time.

Clash Detection

If two rows try to send the same universe to the same target, a warning badge appears and save is confirmation-guarded — with context-aware messaging based on whether targets actually overlap.

Console vs Wire Universe

Patch fixtures on Universe 1, transmit on Art-Net Port-Address 7 — decoupled fields kill the off-by-one confusion for good.

Per-Row Diagnostics

Expand any row for live packets-per-second, bytes-per-second, error counts, and last-error details. Art-Net node discovery lists all visible ArtPoll replies on your network.

Driver Auto-Detection

Plug in a USB DMX device and DMXDesktop identifies it by VID/PID and firmware fingerprint. High-confidence matches populate the row silently; ambiguous devices prompt for confirmation.

Pro Power, When You Need It

Pro unlocks the features that separate a pub rig from a touring production — inputs, mirroring, and complex routing.

DMX Input (Art-Net & sACN Receive) PRO

Receive Art-Net and sACN from other consoles, bridges, or show-control systems. Merge inputs with your own show data.

Multi-Node Mirroring PRO

Send the same universe to multiple Art-Net targets simultaneously. Redundant backup rigs, multi-room installs, and FOH-plus-monitor feeds — add a row per target.

Complex Multi-Driver Mapping PRO

Run Art-Net, sACN, and USB on the same universe at once. Split one console universe across multiple protocols and multiple targets without workarounds.

+ Add Driver Button PRO

Free and Standard users get a pre-populated set of rows. Pro users can add unlimited drivers, subject to machine performance.

Merge Modes PRO

HTP (Highest Takes Precedence), LTP (Latest Takes Precedence), and source-priority merge modes for inbound DMX streams.

sACN Per-Universe Priority PRO

Set priority 1–200 per sACN row. Receivers automatically accept the highest-priority stream when multiple sources are active.

What You Get, Per Tier

Core Art-Net, sACN, and USB output are included in every plan. Pro adds inputs, mirroring, and complex routing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I still run Art-Net, sACN, and USB on the same universe?

Yes. Add one row per output — Art-Net to your node, sACN to your bridge, USB to your dongle — all bound to the same console universe. DMXDesktop transmits each in parallel.

What changed from the old settings pages?

The separate Art-Net, sACN, and USB tabs have been replaced by a single DMX I/O table. Your existing driver configurations migrate automatically on first launch. Duplicate rows (a known bug) are resolved during migration with a review dialog for any genuine conflicts.

Why is DMX Input Pro-only?

Receiving DMX is a production-grade feature used for console bridging, backup merging, and protocol conversion. It stays in Pro to keep the Free and Standard tiers focused on straightforward output.

Do my existing drivers migrate?

Yes. On first launch after the upgrade, DMXDesktop runs a one-time migration inside a single database transaction. A plain-text decision log is written to your app data folder so you can see exactly what changed.
