# v1.0.51 - The Griffin Update

Released 2026-07-08

Sharper beams and more predictable colour. Focal Points keeps every gobo and prism in focus on its own, DJ Mode maps your colour themes onto music genres, and Magic Cues builds a whole batch of ready-to-run effect cues for your rig. Plus ASIO input on Windows, system audio capture on macOS, free local backups, and a follow-spot you can steer with a game controller.

## New Features

### Focal Points

Teach a moving head the right focus for each beam element separately. Gobos, prisms and animations each get their own focal point, and DMXDesktop applies the right one automatically in every cue and show. A zoom-aware wizard handles fixtures whose focus shifts as the beam zooms.

### Genre Color Themes

A new Colors tab in DJ Mode maps your colour themes onto music genres, so the palette is predictable for every style you play. Pick which themes each genre uses, choose blend or solid rendering, read the genre badge on each track, and open "How genres map to colours" to see exactly which keywords and subgenres each family catches.

### Magic Cues Generator

Generate a varied batch of ready-to-run effect cues tailored to the fixtures you actually have. Set how many, the energy and colour feel, and how often gobos, prisms and strobe get used, then add to your existing cues, replace them, or re-tune what is already there.

### ASIO Input on Windows

Capture audio through an ASIO driver for low-latency input from a professional interface, or from a loopback driver such as ASIO4ALL, FlexASIO or Voicemeeter. A Configure ASIO button opens the driver's own control panel, and DMXDesktop tells you if the device is already in use elsewhere.

### macOS System Audio Capture

On macOS 14.2 and later DMXDesktop listens to your Mac's system audio directly, so BlackHole and similar tools are no longer needed. Windows has captured system output through loopback for some time; this brings the Mac level with it. Grant the permission macOS asks for once and you are set.

### Follow-Spot on a Game Controller

With a calibrated Spotlight Mode profile loaded, plug in a game controller and steer the follow-spot live. Left stick for big fast sweeps, right stick for fine aiming, D-pad to nudge. Hand the pad to a helper and chase the action instead of the screen. Mac and Windows.

### Free Local Backup and Restore

Export your entire setup to a single file on your own computer, with no upload and no subscription: stages, shows, fixtures, playlists and settings, with an optional password. Import from File brings it all back. Ideal before a big change or a show, or for moving to another machine.

### DMXKing MAX Series Support

Official support for the DMXking ultraDMX MAX over USB, including its multiple ports and RDM, and for the eDMX1, eDMX2, eDMX4 and eDMX8 MAX Art-Net and sACN nodes.

### All Heads in the Position Finder

Fixtures with more than one mover, such as a Chauvet GigBAR Move, now show an All Heads toggle. Leave it on to aim every head together, or switch it off to position each one on its own.

## Improvements

- Track genres are read and written properly: a genre badge on every file and playlist row, subgenre kept as a field of its own, and a filter with a count badge for tracks that carry no genre at all.
- Search across every playlist at once from a single box, instead of opening them one at a time.
- Quick control buttons can each be set to respect or ignore Dark On Silence, and a group can be exempted from it in DJ Mode.
- USB DMX interfaces are identified reliably even when two units report the same serial number, or none at all, so a second interface no longer displaces the first.
- Several MIDI pads can now share one DMX channel and behave as a single group, with one pad lit at a time.
- Fixtures that combine dimmer and strobe on one channel are now handled correctly.
- Effect cue copies are named in sequence, and a cue can be renamed inline without opening the editor.
- AutoMix can skip tracks it has already played, with skip-played and loop toggles in the deck header, and a Mark Played control.
- Cue data left orphaned by channel group changes is now found and cleaned up, with a review dialog so nothing is touched before you have seen it.
- Fixture imports handle laser channels better, with emitter and pattern names resolved correctly, and the patcher now accepts lenient channel names instead of rejecting them.

## Bug Fixes

- Fixed clicks and pops in the music player when starting, seeking and stopping a track.
- Fixed AutoMix starting a deck with the crossfader in the wrong place, and the crossfader curve not being restored at startup.
- Fixed a fixture group disabled part way through playback holding on to its channels.
- Fixed cancelling a chained Live Edit switch blacking out effects that were still running.
- Fixed the master flickering when DMX was handed to a deck that was not playing.
- Fixed a closed shutter blacking out an entire fixture in the 3D Visualizer, and gigbar strobe and blinder slots drawing no visible bar.
- Fixed duplicating a fixture losing its channel groups and cluster pixel layouts.
- Fixed only some ports being offered on fixed-port FTDI interfaces such as the Enttec DMX USB Pro Mk2, and improved Eurolite USB DMX Pro Mk2 compatibility.
- Fixed rtpMIDI discovery missing devices on a machine with more than one network adapter.
- Fixed a corrupt show file blocking startup. Damaged files are now set aside and the app carries on.
