v1.0.50 - The Phoenix Update
Released 2026-05-21
A rebuilt I/O stack, a new DJ Mode choreographer, and video alongside your lights. The Konductor runs the whole rig as one coordinated instrument instead of a set of independent zones, Art-Net, sACN and USB DMX move into one unified table, and Macro Faders put any number of channels under a single handle.
New Features
The Konductor
DMXDesktop's DJ Mode choreographer. Where the old show generator treated each fixture group as an independent voice, the Konductor runs the rig the way a lighting designer would: effects rolling across groups in time, washes handing off to beams, blinders punctuating drops, movers travelling in formation. Set a Choreography Intensity and give each group a Konductor Role. Included with Standard and Pro.
Unified DMX I/O
Art-Net, sACN and USB DMX now share one table, with live status, inline editing and per-row diagnostics. Interfaces start, stop and reload without restarting the app, new rows are configured fully before they are committed, clashes are flagged instead of silently fighting each other, and a network interface picker with a built-in ping shows every adapter on the machine.
Macro Faders
One fader handle, many DMX channels, each with its own range and direction. Bound to fixtures rather than raw addresses, so renames and re-patches do not break them. Drive them from the desk, a pop-out window, MIDI or your phone, with a smart-pick matrix and conflict detection while you build one. Included on every tier.
Video Window
Play video files alongside your lights in a separate output window, for projection or an LED wall. Playlist management with per-track video assignment, CPU decode so 4K and high-bitrate sources play reliably, and pre-flight codec and dimension checks so nothing surprises you on stage.
DMX Input and Advanced Routing
Receive Art-Net and sACN into DMXDesktop, mirror universes across several nodes, and set sACN per-universe priority and merge mode. Pro.
Dark On Silence Per-Group Control
Dark On Silence grows well past a single switch. Silence one zone of the rig while others carry on, override it per Effect Cue with Follow, Force On or Force Off, and let drops and cue points punch through so the moments that matter never get muted.
Pixel Bar Effects in DJ Mode
Pixel bar fixtures now run dedicated pixel effects in DJ Mode: chases, sweeps, sparkles and washes that use every pixel rather than treating the whole bar as one colour. Choose per group whether a multi-fixture group behaves as one continuous bar or as separate units.
LED Strip and Scanner Fixtures
Render DMX tape, ribbon and cove fixtures as a flat strip in the 3D Visualizer, with configurable length, width and LED density. Single-zone strips show one shared colour, multi-zone strips light each pixel from its own channels. Scanner-style fixtures now render properly too.
16-bit Fine Pan and Tilt
Full 16-bit pan and tilt wherever movers expose fine channels, for smooth position interpolation with no visible stepping on long beam throws. Multi-head pan and tilt recording for fixtures with independent heads. Pro.
OSC Debugger Window
A dedicated OSC inspector with a live message log, address filtering, a collapsible payload view and human-readable labels for common paths. Record traffic to a file for post-show debugging. Opens straight from the OSC settings card.
My Sequences in QuickShow
A personal sequence library reachable directly from QuickShow: record a movement once and recall it anywhere. Change a QuickShow theme and your sequences pick up the new palette without re-recording.
Improvements
- The 3D Visualizer runs noticeably smoother on modest GPUs and big rigs alike, with a render scale slider and display cap, a limit on how many shadow-casting lights are evaluated at once, a per-fixture Key Light toggle, and GPU acceleration status in the inspector.
- Newly patched fixtures land in sensible default positions in the 3D view: movers and gigbars on truss, fog on the floor, pars tilted forward.
- Move your music library to a new drive without losing your playlists. Broken track paths are detected automatically and Fix Mode walks you through repointing them in bulk.
- The DJ Mode show generator has moved to a native engine. Builds are faster, use less memory and no longer block the interface, so switching tracks does not freeze the desktop while a show rebuilds.
- Adding or removing fixtures now applies to a running show incrementally, instead of tearing down effects that are already playing, and switching stages no longer rebuilds identical content twice.
- Colour and pattern swaps now wait for a beat-aligned moment rather than jumping mid-bar, and BPM detection is more accurate across mixed-genre material.
- A Zero Channels in View button drops every channel currently visible in the Live Console straight to zero, for an instant dark.
- Pan and tilt limits set on one fixture now propagate automatically to other fixtures of the same type, so movers no longer have to be tuned one at a time.
- Better colour handling on RGBW and multi-white fixtures so mixing keeps luminance accurate, a new Effect Pattern channel type with built-in cycling, and smarter handling of dimmer fine channel pairs on import.
- Support tickets now live in the app, with follow notifications, ticket types, needs-response indicators and notification preferences. Firewall status checks tell you clearly when DMXDesktop's network traffic is being blocked.
- Improved Traktor support with full four-deck handling, and VirtualDJ waveforms that load and display reliably across both deck views.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed a memory leak in the 3D Visualizer when changing fixture groups, along with clone realignment, beam clipping and shadow handling.
- Fixed Art-Net traffic from your own machine feeding back into your own inputs.
- Fixed Art-Net inputs and outputs staying down after an interface came back, such as a Wi-Fi reconnect or a USB re-plug. They now retry on their own, and USB unplug and replug is handled cleanly.
- Fixed stalled auto-updater downloads and unclear failures. The updater has been rebuilt on the operating system's own HTTP stack, and crash reports now carry the exact version and build.
- Fixed offline licence checks failing when network adapters change, such as USB tethering, a VPN switch or a Wi-Fi flip.
- Fixed file dialogs and tray notifications racing Windows 11 into a crash, and half-applied state leaking between modes on a stage swap, show reload or mixer reset.
- Fixed video switching mid-track where an older load could snap back over the new one, and added up-front warnings for AV1 and HEVC sources Windows cannot decode instead of a silent failure.
- Fixed OS2L special-effect buttons losing their latched state while live, and stale autoplay and autoload state after a track change.
