What Auto Pilot did
Auto Pilot was a lightweight automation mode that ran your Effect Cues for you. It listened to live audio energy and beat, picked from the cues you had chosen, blended them across your groups, and paced the changes so the show kept moving without jumping about. An optional audio model read genre and instrumentation from the room to steer which cues it reached for.
Its limit was that it could only run cues you had built first. Live Wire starts from the sound in the room instead. It chooses fixture roles, colour, movement and accents itself, follows tempo and energy, senses build-ups and drops, and adapts to whatever rig you have patched, with nothing prepared in advance. Run one of your own cues underneath and Live Wire adds to it rather than fighting you for control.
Auto Pilot ran your Effect Cues from live audio. Live Wire now builds the show itself, with no cues prepared in advance.
Questions about the change
Have I lost something I paid for?
No. Auto Pilot and Live Wire were always on the same plans, Standard and Pro. If you could run Auto Pilot, you can run Live Wire on the licence you already have.
What replaces Auto Pilot?
Live Wire. It listens to the live audio in the room and builds the show as it plays, choosing roles, colour, movement and accents itself. It needs no cues prepared in advance, and it works from any audio source: a mixer, a live band, streaming, vinyl or ambient playback.
Will Auto Pilot come back?
It is not planned. Live Wire supersedes it. If Auto Pilot was doing something for you that you cannot reproduce with Live Wire, tell us, because that is exactly what we want to hear about.
Do my Effect Cues still work?
Yes. Effect Cues and Effect Cue Stacks are untouched. You build them, run them and stack them exactly as before. Only the Auto Pilot layer that ran them for you has been retired.
